Dr. Steven Abbadessa Board Certification, History and Organization Memberships

Board Certification

Dr. Steven Abbadessa is a board certified proctologist. Proctologists are medical doctors who are specifically trained in dealing with the colon, rectum and anus. Your health and well being mean everything in living a happy and fulfilled life. That’s why it’s important to choose carefully when considering healthcare providers, especially when it comes to genital and anal warts, hemorrhoids and other colon and rectal issues.

Dr. Steven Abbadessa is board certified by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). That means that he has taken additional training in the specialty of Proctology and continues to take ongoing education to maintain his certification along with other requirements by the AOA.

Osteopathic physicians (DOs) bring an extra dimension to healthcare offering a holistic approach. DOs look at the whole person when diagnosing and treating disease and focus on preventative care.

Dr. Abbadessa History

Dr. Steven Abbadessa received his doctorate from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then spent 5 years in the military in primary care and the HIV Unit. He has done extensive work in the area of HIV and have produced nearly a dozen papers in this field. After being discharged from the Air Force, he became certified in Proctology and now has over 25 years as a physician and over 20 in his specialty.

Dr. Abbadessa is a pioneer in the treatment of genital and anal warts through new techniques with laser light and Interferon therapy.

His approach is straight forward but caring. When patients come to see him, they are usually concerned because of finding genital or anal warts, some type of bleeding or pain that they are experiencing. He immediately tries to put them at ease and deal with the problem right away.

He understands how sensitive it is to have to deal with anorectal conditions such as genital or anal warts, let alone having to be examined in these areas. He and his staff take great care to make everyone feel comfortable.

He is married with three children and two exuberant Labrador retrievers.

He believes in having informed patients and created separate websites for each of the areas that people have the most issues and questions regarding: hemorrhoids and colon rectal issues.
